I am using the [^Footnote] markdown notation, but it becomes literal text rather than a footnote.
I asked the question before doing my research… Apparently, not. The Blog template does not have the ability out-of-the-box, and Magazine has them inline.

A sentence with a trailing footnote.[^fn1]
[^fn1]: This is the text of the footnote.
