Custom Domain Help

I'm having some trouble linking my blot.im site with my custom domain. Usually www.example.com works, but if I omit the www. it goes to 'Server Not Found'. Do you know what may cause that issue and how to fix it? Thank you!

Did you try creating an Apex domain ?

Use an apex domain (e.g. example.com) Go to your domain's DNS page. This is usually where you bought the domain. Create an ALIAS record which points to blot.im.

Tell Blot your domain, e.g. example.com, on the dashboard.

If you cannot create an ALIAS record, I recommend you use the www subdomain, then set up a redirect from the apex domain to the subdomain. A number of DNS providers offer ALIAS records, including Route 53 and DNSimple. Cloudflare offers CNAME Flattening, which are ALIAS records by another name.

Yes, I'm able to create an ALIAS record with my domain provider. But it only works if I put 'www' in the host field, in which case I'm able to access it as https://www.example.com, or www.example.com but typing in https://example.com leads to a Server Not Found.

If I put the host field as blank or *, I get an error: "404 (002) pixie proxy" on my site.

I tried using the CNAME, ALIAS, and A values as listed on the table but my domain rejected A since it is blank in the answer field. Let me know if there's anything I'm missing, thank you!

Sorry about this – I now see the IP address was missing.

The IP address in the documentation for the A record type has been fixed, please use it to create an A record.
