My site is nothing special, just old school blog I throw personal crap on. I had a few vertical videos taken on phone I put up, I converted them to .mp4 whcih works. When it comes to sizing and how to post them I was wondering if anyone had any advice,

What you have right now works and looks good to me. It might be worth using a video host like YouTube and Vimeo if you want your visitors to be able to watch the video in multiple resolutions, etc. but for now I think what you have works! Are you satisfied with it?
Note that you can install more complicated video players on your site too, e.g. plyr. But it's a matter of taste: I like the simplicity of your current system.
Eventually I'd like to add proper video post support to Blot but that's for further along!
