Setting Draft: true in the metadata gets me a rendered HTML file as a sibling of the source.
Is the draft article also exposed at a URL I can share?
Yes, you can share the draft preview file with anyone, they'll be able to open it in their own web browser and see the preview, with live updates, as well. Or you can find the preview URL on the dashboard, if you click through to the draft within your folder. The draft preview URL on the dashboard is public too and can be shared with anyone.
