Any plans to add ActivityPub compatibility?

Could be interesting to jump in to the Fediverse!

I haven't really considered it properly. What would be the benefit? My understanding is that if I added support for it into Blot, people could use ActivityPub clients to publish to their site on Blot, and subscribe to sites on Blot using ActivityPub clients. Is that correct?

I'm certainly not against the idea, just don't have any sense of how difficult the process will be.

I'm also not quite sure if this is related or not, but Amit Gawande created blotpub.

I honestly don't fully understand Fediverse stuff. I think it could mean that posts (and usernames) from Blot could be followed in Fediverse apps like Mastodon, but I'm unclear on if it would necessitate Blot have an interface for viewing/following others? So it could be cool if someone could follow @username@blot.im on their Fediverse app of choice. But I have no idea about "likes" and "reposts" and such.

Ghost recently announced upcoming support for it, their explainer may give you more details on how Activitypub could be leveraged.

It could be a non-trivial task to bring blot to the fediverse! Earlier I asked about the WebFinger and I was actually on the same train of thought. I am currently trying to integrate my Blot site with Micro.blog via via rss, and it works fine and doesn't even require users to have a paid hosted micro.blog (although it's not advertised). But without cloudflare alchemy one will need two separate domains, and I guess that what most people want will be using something like @name@blotsite.domain and be able to publish posts to Mastodon/Threads users and host the replies to their posts made on other servers wherever they specify with the template on blot site. This will be micropub standards to my best understanding, and micro.blog currently supports all that, but again, it takes maintaining a second site.

Using a Mastodon client is a good idea. It's not clear to me why Manton decided not to go that way but it might be a better user experience. The inhouse or thirdparty app is needed to search and follow users on other instances and to make comments. Then there is a problem with federating small instances, all the "hacky" single-user instances suffer from poor results when it comes to search and getting discovered. I'm sure that if Blot goes after some ActivityPub features it could become one of the better solutions for people who want to get on the Fediverse! Micro.blog is very hard to maintain, but "turn your Dropbox text files into a website and publish them to Threads.net" using your own domain could be a killing feature these days!

P.S. Other two notable examples of integrating site-frameworks into the Fediverse are Wordpress and Kirby plugins

Looks like Justin from Buttondown is working on ActivityPub integration as well
